Slovenia is like a small paradise, it has it all. Amazing mountains, lovely lakes and rivers, a great culture and cuisine, gorgeous cities, and even a little bit of coastline. It so small you can literally drive through in one day. But to be sure you don’t miss the most amazing treasures, it’s best to stay a little bit longer. Down below is a list in no particular order of just some of the best hotels in Slovenia.

1. BOUTIQUE HOTEL VILA PLANINKA, ZGORNJE JEZERSKO

Jezersko is a tremendous place, where I have spent a lot of time as a child, but haven’t been there for a while. Here, you can enjoy many exciting outdoor experiences such as hiking, cycling, running and cross-country skiing. This place is definitely worth visiting, and you can complete your experience with a stay in this gorgeous 5-star hotel, Vila Planinka. Vila Planinka has 23 rooms and not even two are identical, each is designed and equipped in its own way. Each room also has an animal or a plant name, besides the room number.

2. VANDER URBANI RESORT, Ljubljana

Design of this gorgeous hotel combines the architecture of the old city center and a modern concept of comfort. On the outside, it looks like a typical old town house in the center of Ljubljana, but the inside surprises you with a modern design. The hotel also has an amazing relaxing rooftop.

3. MEMENTO B&B PIRAN, PIRAN

This is a perfect example of how architecture evolves when old structures are preserved and lovingly restored. I really love how clean lines complete the rustical elements. Some of the rooms have balconies with a cute view of the city.

4. ART HOTEL TARTINI, PIRAN

I love art hotels because you are not just staying in some room, but the whole building feels like you are in a gallery. This hotel is a perfect combination of modern design, simplicity, and art. It was completely renovated in 2018. I love the walls in the restaurant, and, a bonus, there is a rooftop terrace with an amazing view. I’m a fan of rooftops I guess 🙂

5. VAULT HOTEL, LJUBLJANA

This brand new 4-star hotel, opened in 2018, offers an intimacy of a private residence in a quiet neighborhood. It is designed for more demanding guests and business travelers. Modern bright and spacious rooms are made of natural elements.

6. HOTEL LEV, LJUBLJANA

This legendary hotel was renovated last year, well at least some of the rooms are new. The new ones are quite nice, modern and trendy. Well, the old ones are a bit outdated. But the best part of this hotels is a completely renovated lobby bar. And of course the central location.

7. Hotel Grad Otočec, OTOČEC

This is a gothic castle built in the middle of shallow running waters of Krka river. Yes, you have read it right. It’s a castle. I mean… who wouldn’t want to sleep in a castle?! The rooms have modern equipment with a slight medieval touch. One of the castle towers was converted into a winery where you can try domestic and foreign wines. And I love this dungeon look of the bar on the second pictures.

8. HOTEL CUBO, LJUBLJANA

The Hotel Cubo, situated in an old residential building converted for use as a hotel, is considered to be one of Ljubljana’s best hotels. The contract of a historic building and modern interior design, intimate atmosphere and a great location gives you an amazing experience.

9. CENTRAL HOTEL, LJUBLJANA

Recently renovated hotel in central Ljubljana is the first hotel in Slovenia where you can sleep in capsules. But there are still mostly regular rooms. Also, you have to check in to this hotel with your smartphone. Great location and again, rooftop with a view of Ljubljana Castle.

10. INTERCONTINENTAL, LJUBLJANA

Well, what to say, it is a 5-star hotel, and definitely proudly wears those stars. Rooms are modern and simple but very tasteful. The hotel bar interior is fantastic, also the lobby and the view from the upper floors. Not to mention the panoramic wellness and of course a really great location.
